As Delegate, Steven will use his experiences and proven leadership to advocate for:

Expanding mental health support

  • Led an internationally recognized Crisis Intervention Program, directly assisting residents experiencing mental health and substance use challenges

  • Served on the Board for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Maryland

  • Faculty with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF)

  • Mental Health First Aid Youth and Adult trainer, named a top 100 Mental Health First Aid Instructor in 2018

Community-focused public safety

  • Throughout his career, Steven has focused on a community approach to public safety

  • Served as co-chair of Governor Moore’s Public Safety Transition Team

  • Vice chair of the Multidisciplinary Education Subcommittee of the Maryland Judicial Behavioral Health Commission

  • Staff at the Maryland Judicial College

Improving community wellness and opportunity

  • Coached youth football, lacrosse, and basketball, fostering a positive environment and supporting the wellbeing of athletes

  • Partnered with other community leaders to support and assist District 32 residents and families

  • North County High School 2019 Wall of Fame Inductee for significant contributions to the community
