Steven Thomas has dedicated his life to protecting and uplifting people during some of the most difficult moments they will ever face. He has been a mentor and role model to countless law enforcement officers, a champion for mental health and trauma-informed care, and has spent his career elevating the humanity, dignity, and safety of every person he serves.
Because of Steve’s leadership of the internationally recognized Crisis Intervention Team he built, I was met with understanding and care during my darkest moments instead of being pulled deeper into the criminal justice system. His leadership not only helped save my life, but also inspired the creation of my Patient Not Prisoner program.
